Everyone is prone to the exposure of harmful blue light rays through their computer or phone screens, or when it’s sunny out. The great news is that there are ways to combat this, protect your eyes and avoid vision troubles down the road. Blue light filtering glasses and zFORT™ blue light blockers are just a few modes of assisting in combat this issue, especially if you spend hours before the PC.
What is blue light?
Sunlight is formed by red, orange, yellow, green and blue light rays with different levels of energy and wavelengths. Blue light rays have short wavelengths between 380nm and 500nm with high energy levels. Studies prove that when blue light rays reach a wavelength of between 415-455nm, they might be extremely harmful to eye health as they penetrate through to the retina.
What are the advantages of blue light and its negatives?
While blue light waves are often harmful to your eye health, not all of them are. Some blue light exposure is important for improving your memory and mood, regulating your sleep cycle, and maintaining healthy eye development for youngsters.
On the opposite hand, excessive exposure to blue light could pose a threat to your overall health, including the likelihood of causing digital eye strain or damage to the retina.
What’s zFORT™?
zFORT™ blue light block technology was recently launched at Vision Direct.
This technology can block some of blue light wavelengths between 380 and 500nm from reaching your eye and damaging your eye health.
The chances are that you simply spend enough time ahead of a screen to be benefitted by blue light blocking glasses. With zFORT™, you’ll turn any regular pair of glasses, whether they’re Oakley or Tom Ford into computer glasses for good sight as well as healthy eyes.
The main reasons we’re getting zFORT™ (and think you ought to as well):
- Potentially less glare when working/gaming/looking at your display screen
- Help to scale back eye strain
- Help to enhance sleep
