The good news is that Australia is an amazing country full of vastly different yet equally exciting capital cities. Feeling stuck with your hometown and craving something new to celebrate this year? Book yourself a spot on one of Melbourne’s famous rooftops for a stunning view of this year’s fireworks show. Catch the best view at Princes Bridge, Federation Square, Southbank and Flinders Street Station. You’ll find countdowns, food stalls and food trucks as well as music and drinks at these areas. 


Sydney always does its fireworks up big, and if you’re hunting for something different, then you should definitely consider booking yourself a highly sought after spot on a Sydney Harbour cruise! Sydney’s New Year’s Eve is absolutely iconic and if you want a comfortable, exciting night that you’ll remember forever, then a harbour cruise is definitely the way to go. You’ll enjoy front row seats to one of the world’s most famous fireworks displays as well as amazing food, bar service and dancing. This is one special ticket so get in there early to secure a place. 


Canberra has plenty of fireworks displays on offer for New Year’s! Head out nice and early and grab yourself a gourmet dinner before hitting one of Canberra’s vibrant and exciting bars. 


Nab your spot on Hobart’s waterfront early in the evening to enjoy the 9.30 and midnight fireworks. The location will also stay true to form with an abundance of incredible food at Taste of Tasmania’s yearly wine and food offering. There’s plenty of discounted public transport for you to get around with. 

Brisbane and the Gold Coast 

Celebrate at Brisbane’s South Bank Parklands for an exciting, all ages event full of fireworks and performances, with a firework’s rainbow stretching along the coast! There are additional bus services and free public transport to make enjoying your night nice and simple. For those staying in the Gold Coast, stick around Kurrawa Park, Broadbeach for a great fireworks display. There are events all along the coast, with fireworks at Coolangatta Beach, Coomera, Harley Park, Paradise Point Parklands, Varsity Promenade in Varsity Lakes and along Surfers Paradise Beach. 


If you’re lucky enough to find yourself in Adelaide this New Year’s, you’ll want to situate yourself at Elder Park and the Riverbank of River Torrens! There is a full schedule of live music performances and plenty of family entertainment that everyone can enjoy. There are two fireworks displays at 9 and at midnight, with a fundraiser for donations to those affected by the bushfires. All public transport will also be free, making getting around and enjoying your fabulous night all the easier. 


The council is planning their best New Year’s celebration ever! Head to the Waterfront in Darwin for both family fireworks at 9 and the big show at midnight with a very special celebrity host, Daryl Braithwaite! Your kids will be dizzied by free live entertainment, glitter face painting and balloon artists. There will be plenty of food stalls, local music performers and rides! The event is glass and alcohol free, with free buses offered for easy transport options. 


Perth has plenty to offer for ringing in 2021 in perfect style. The City of Perth is throwing quite the bash across the Perth Cultural Centre and Yagan Square with exciting performances, music, food, fireworks and even rides for the kids. If you’re up for celebrating on the sand, City Beach is putting on their incredible fireworks display from 10 pm. You’ll also find some live music performances and fireworks at Mandurah and Rockingham, both of which are family friendly! Perth has an awful lot to offer covering the whole city, so no matter where you’re staying you know you’ll be more than well entertained.
